  • How much do your bouquets cost, and what affects the price?

Our aqua bouquets (beautifully arranged and presented in water) start from £40 and can go up to £500 for large, statement designs, although most of our customers choose something in the £40–£100 range.

The price is mainly influenced by the size of the bouquet, the types of flowers used (some stems cost many times more than others), seasonality, and the level of design work involved. A hand-tied bouquet using premium roses, peonies or orchids, for example, will naturally cost more than one built around seasonal blooms. What stays the same at every price point is the quality: all our bouquets are hand-made by experienced, local florists, using carefully selected flowers, conditioned properly so they look their best and last as long as possible. We’ll always help you choose something that looks generous, thoughtful and right for the occasion — whatever your budget.

  • What’s the difference between a supermarket bouquet and one from a professional florist?

A supermarket bouquet is designed for speed, scale and price. It’s mass-produced in large factories, often days before you see it, using standardised designs that are shipped long distances and handled by multiple couriers.

A professional florist’s bouquet is made fresh to order, by hand, using carefully selected stems that are conditioned properly and arranged with skill, balance and attention to detail. Florists consider colour harmony, flower longevity, occasion and budget — and can tailor the design to suit the person receiving it. The result is a bouquet that looks better, lasts longer, and feels genuinely thoughtful rather than off-the-shelf.

  • How long will the flowers last, and how do I make them last longer?

Most fresh bouquets will last around 5–7 days, often longer with good care. We condition all flowers properly before they leave the shop, which makes a real difference. To help them last, trim the stems, change the water every couple of days, keep them away from heat and direct sunlight, and use the flower food provided.

  • Can you make something bespoke, or do I have to choose from what’s online or in-store?

Absolutely — bespoke is what we do best. The website and shop displays are there for inspiration, but we’re always happy to create something tailored to your budget, colour preference, style or occasion. A quick conversation is often all it takes to design something truly personal.

  • Are your flowers locally grown?

We always prioritise quality and freshness above everything else. While British flowers can be wonderful in season, they’re often produced in smaller quantities and are quickly secured by the large national brands. To ensure consistency, size and longevity, we source the very best flowers from trusted growers around the world — with most of our stems arriving via the Netherlands, the global hub for the finest flowers. This allows us to offer exceptional quality and freshness all year round, whatever the season.

  • Do you offer same-day or next-day delivery, and how reliable is it?

Yes, we offer both same-day and future-day local delivery, subject to order time and availability. Because deliveries are handled by our own team (not couriers), they’re reliable, personal and carefully managed — your flowers arrive with a smile, and looking as they should. If ordered by 2pm Mon-Fri we can deliver same day (12 noon on Saturdays).

  • What flowers are best for birthdays / funerals / anniversaries / sympathy / thank yous?

There’s no single right answer — it’s about meaning, personality and tone. Bright, joyful flowers work well for birthdays, while softer, elegant designs are often chosen for sympathy. Anniversaries suit something romantic or personal, and thank-you flowers are best kept light and cheerful. We’re always happy to guide you if you’re unsure.

  • Why are some florists cheaper than others — what am I actually paying for?

Price differences usually come down to quality, freshness and expertise. Cheaper flowers are often mass-produced, older, and designed to a formula. With a professional florist, you’re paying for fresh stock, skilled design, proper conditioning, thoughtful presentation and personal service — all of which make a noticeable difference.

  • Can you help me choose if I don’t know much about flowers or what the recipient likes?

Of course — most people don’t! Just tell us the occasion and anything you know about the recipient, and we’ll take it from there. Our job is to make it easy and stress-free while ensuring the flowers feel right.

  • Why should I buy from you rather than a big online flower brand?

Because you’re dealing with real local florists who care about what they create and how it’s delivered. Our flowers are made fresh, not boxed up days in advance, and delivered by people who understand how to handle them properly. The result is better flowers, better service and a far more personal experience.

  • Why do seasonal flowers usually last longer at home?

Seasonal flowers tend to last longer because they’re growing in conditions that suit them naturally.

When a flower is in season, it hasn’t been forced to grow out of cycle, rushed under artificial conditions, or transported unnecessarily far. The stems are stronger, the flower heads more robust, and the overall plant is simply healthier.

Seasonality also usually means freshness. Flowers that are in season move more quickly from grower to florist, spending less time in cold storage or transit. That freshness is what gives you better vase life at home.

At Grand Flowers, we always design with the season in mind — not because it’s fashionable, but because it works. Flowers behave better, open more naturally, and look as though they belong together. In short, seasonal flowers don’t have to fight to perform — and you can see (and enjoy) the difference.

  • What does “wild and country” floristry actually mean?

“Wild and country” floristry is less about a fixed look and more about a way of thinking.

Rather than tightly controlled shapes and rigid symmetry, this style allows flowers to move, breathe, and behave as they naturally would. Stems aren’t forced into identical heights, and flowers aren’t chosen simply to match a colour chart.

It’s inspired by hedgerows, gardens, fields and landscapes — where things grow together naturally, with variation and texture rather than uniformity.

A wild and country bouquet often feels relaxed, effortless and uncontrived, even though a great deal of skill goes into achieving that balance. It’s about knowing when to stop, leaving space, and letting the flowers speak for themselves. For many people, it feels more emotional and more timeless — because it mirrors nature rather than trying to control it.

  • How do I choose the right bouquet when I don’t know much about flowers?

You don’t need to know flower names or varieties to choose the right bouquet — you just need to know why you’re buying it.

Is it to celebrate, to comfort, to thank someone, or simply to bring a little beauty into a home? That intention matters far more than whether a bouquet contains roses, tulips or something more unusual.

A good florist will listen first, ask a couple of gentle questions, and guide you towards something that fits the moment. Often, the best bouquets are the ones chosen with trust rather than precision.

If something catches your eye and feels right, that’s usually the right choice. Flowers communicate emotion instinctively — and most people are far better at choosing than they think.

  • Why do some bouquets feel more natural than others?

Natural-looking bouquets usually rely on balance rather than symmetry. Instead of every stem being placed exactly the same way, a more natural bouquet allows variation in height, direction and texture. Some flowers lead, others support, and space is used just as thoughtfully as the flowers themselves.

This approach creates movement and softness, which the eye reads as calm and effortless. It’s closer to how flowers grow in the garden or countryside — and that familiarity makes it feel comfortable and genuine.

A bouquet doesn’t need to be perfectly even to feel complete. Often, it’s the slight irregularities that give it character and warmth.

  • Are luxury flowers really worth it?

“Luxury” in flowers isn’t about excess — it’s about quality.

Higher-grade flowers are grown with care, cut at the right stage, and handled properly all the way through the supply chain. The stems are stronger, the heads fuller, and the flowers open more beautifully over time.

Design also plays a part. A thoughtfully made bouquet takes time, judgement and restraint — knowing what to include, what to leave out, and how to let the flowers work together.

For many people, the value lies in how the flowers make them feel, how long they last, and how confidently they can give them. In that sense, quality flowers are often remembered long after cheaper alternatives are forgotten.

  • What flowers are best if I want something elegant but not showy?

    Elegance often comes from understatement.

Flowers with softer colours, gentle movement and natural forms tend to feel more refined than bold, highly structured blooms. Whites, creams, soft greens and muted tones age beautifully and suit most homes and occasions.

Texture is just as important as colour — delicate flowers paired with interesting foliage can feel quietly confident rather than attention-seeking.

An elegant bouquet doesn’t shout. It sits comfortably in a space and grows on you the longer it’s there.

  • How do I choose a houseplant that will actually thrive in my home?

The key is honesty — about your space and your lifestyle.

Light levels matter more than most people realise, so noticing whether a room is bright, shaded, or somewhere in between makes a big difference. Equally, how often you’re around to water or care for a plant is important.

Some plants thrive on attention, others prefer to be left alone. Choosing the right one means fewer problems later and a far more enjoyable experience. A healthy, happy plant should feel like a companion, not a responsibility.

  • Why do flowers make such meaningful gifts?

Flowers mark moments in a way few other gifts can.

They arrive fresh, alive, and full of feeling — whether that’s celebration, sympathy, gratitude or love. They don’t last forever, but that fleeting nature is part of their power.

A bouquet says, “I thought of you,” without needing explanation. It fills a space, lifts a mood, and becomes part of a memory.

Long after the flowers have faded, the moment they represented often remains — which is why flowers have always mattered, and always will.
